A HEALTHY TWIST TO A SWEDISH CLASSIC
A HEALTHY TWIST TO A SWEDISH CLASSIC
These delicious little balls are a modern (and healthier) twist of the classic Swedish chocolate balls. Dadelbollar (date balls) with browned butter and toasted coconut are excellent for satisfying your sweet cravings without actually eating any sugar. You can serve these date balls for a coffee break or enjoy them as a snack for yourself.
All you need is: 50 g butter, 16 dates, 2 ½ dl oats, 2 tbsp cacao, 2 tbsp cold strong coffee, 1 tsp vanilla sugar, coconut flakes.
1. Melt the butter in a small saucepan. Whisk continuously until the butter turns brown and has a nutty aroma. Let it cool in a heatproof bowl. Pour the melted butter into a mixing bowl.
2. Cut the dates in half and remove the pits. Place the dates and the rest of the ingredients, except for the coconut flakes, in the mixing bowl. Blend until you have a smooth mixture. Roll the mixture into 12 balls.
3. Toast the coconut flakes in a small frying pan and transfer them to a deep plate. Roll the date balls in the toasted coconut. Voila!
