We Scandinavians have an enduring love affair with baked goods. In particular the many types of buns, especially cinnamon buns and cardamom buns. These sweet delicious buns with their irresistible aroma and comforting taste hold a special place in the hearts of Scandinavians and they bring people together in moments of joy and celebration. This is why we were (and still are) so happy to be able to offer you real Scandinavian buns. To be able to provide you with this treat, the buns are flash-frozen immediately after coming out of the oven in the bakery, which traps the freshness and conserves it for you until you heat it up in your own oven or leave it to defrost.
Many of you have ordered buns from us since we started offering them. They have literally been flying off the shelf and we are so happy that you like them!
Preparing the perfect bun in the oven from frozen is a simple yet somehow complicated process if you’re not doing it right. But when you do, it’s oh so rewarding and fills your kitchen with the irresistible aroma of warm spices and sweet dough. In order for you to get your Swedishness buns just right we present to you......
We have tested and experimented with hundreds of cinnamon buns (no not really but maybe 15) to be able to provide you with the most accurate “Swedishness bun science” and we have come to the conclusion that:
150C for 15 min = Slightly burnt bun. Not great but perfect if you like crispier buns…
120C for 15 min = Still slightly crispy. We miss “the fluff”.
100C for 10 min = Not enough time but we are getting there…we are close but “skam den som ger sig” as we say in Swedish. Let's change both the degrees and time next…
And then finally, after many trials and errors, we present to you, the perfect way to prepare your Swedishness buns from frozen:
90C for 12-14 min
Take it out of the oven, let it rest for 1-2 minutes and as you take that first bite, the soft and pillowy texture of the dough meets the sweet and spicy embrace of cinnamon, creating a symphony of flavours that instantly transport you to a place of warmth and familiarity. Back to Scandinavia
